Dr. Joanna Chan is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. She is an expert in the surgical management of skin cancers and cosmetic procedures such as Botox neuromodulators, lasers, injectable fillers, Kybella double chin reduction, chemical peels and treatment of leg veins. Dr. Chan performs advanced surgical reconstruction and local anesthesia cosmetic surgical procedures such as eyelid blepharoplasty, earlobe repair, and neck liposuction.
Dr. Chan graduated magna cum laude in biochemical sciences from Harvard and completed her medical degree at Stanford. She returned to her hometown of Dallas, TX to complete dermatology residency at
UT Southwestern Medical Center.
She was selected to attend a prestigious Mohs College accredited fellowship with Dr. Greg Morganroth, focusing on Mohs surgery and cosmetic surgery techniques.
Dr. Chan has presented at national conferences and has published on subjects including melanoma, pigmentary disorders, surgical techniques, lasers, and aesthetics. As a clinical faculty member of University of California Irvine, she trained surgical and medical residents and students. Dr. Chan has been recognized by Super Doctors® “Rising Stars,” American Cancer League, Doctors’ Choice Award, Top Dermatologist in Los Angeles (International Association of Dermatologists), “Reader’s Choice” by Long Beach Press Telegram, America’s Top Dermatologists, and Castle Connolly Top Doctors.
Dr. Chan is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and American Academy of Dermatology. She served as chair of the Women’s Dermatologic Society Young Physicians Committee and is an active volunteer in the community.
Her passion is to create beautifully natural results utilizing advanced, non-invasive laser, injectable, and lifting procedures, all
with a philosophy of outstanding care based on expertise and specialized attention to the particular needs of each patient. She speaks Spanish, Fujian / Taiwanese, and Mandarin and has a special interest in treating patients with skin of color.
Dr. Chan formerly practiced in Long Beach, and she moved her practice in 2018 to be closer to her family in Silver Lake, where she lives with her husband Dr. William Lee (vascular surgery, USC) and their two
boys. Dr. Chan is musician, and she enjoys travel, ballroom dancing, matchmaking, sampling the restaurant scene, and spending time with her family.
